My daughter lost her new sewing machine in a house fire last September.
I've found, on eBay, a Singer electronic 7466 Touch and Sew from sewinginusa with free shipping and a free extended support plan.

This is the url: http://cgi.ebay.com/Singer-7466-Touc...item43a78270ad

Would you recommend this machine? or another? She's a busy career woman, and doesn't have a lot of time to sew, so a more sophisticated one isn't necessary right now. Thanks for your help.

all I have heard about this machine is it is called
"touch-n-SWEAR"....I have not ever used one, so can not say for sure..but I am sure there are some on here that can enlighten you...you might also try to search for it on allbrands.com and at consumer reports to see what the reviews are!

Thanks, Jacquie. That gives me a new perspective. I did see one review from a consumer site, which said they're quite good. But I will look up the 2 sites
you mentioned and see what is mentioned there.

I would not buy this machine. Instead, I would suggest looking at Sears Kenmore machines (which are made by Janome); these are better overall quality.

Personally speaking I wouldn't buy a new Singer, an old one yes.
