    I did mine using Lucky Stars by Atkinson Designs.

    You could use whatever star block you wanted.

    However, I've seen many photo quilts done utilizing the Sawtooth Star block.

    That's a great quilt and very similar to the ones I've seen.

    As MTS said, sawtooth is probably most common. THe link is for 8" blocks but if you need another size, you'll find it readily available for free online. Quilterscache is always a great site to check...the first couple I saw were for 12" blocks but you can make them whatever size you want.
