I probably should have checked with you all before I purchased this machine since I know nothing about it however, it seemed like a wonderfully great deal. The woman selling it just found she is in remission and wants to truly live and since she never really used the machine for anything for anything more than sewing her hubby's parashutes since he is a sky diver, she wanted the machine to go to someone who would use it and love it. She is going to travel the country. While I am happy for her, I am hoping the $50.00 I paid for the machine is worth it. Everthing I look up online seems to indicate the positive. I just have never heard anyone on hear refer to this particular brand before. Any help is welcome. I am a newbe to quilting so that is what it's primary purpose will be.

Necchi is a fabulous machine. I had one from the 60's and stupidly gave it away, along with my 40's era Pfaff, when I was younger and far more stupid.
i have an older Necchi now, though it's my backup machine, it still runs like a top.

It was ME!!!!! DH steered me to the Vintage Necchi at a garage sale back at the end of May..... Mine is a Necchi BC ( straight stitch only) made in Italy @ 1940.

I love my Necchi. I use it for upholstery and slip cover work as it is truly a work horse. I've never had a problem with it.
I have my Pfaff's for sewing/quilting/embroidery.
I think you got a great buy.

Thank you for all your helpful comments, I am so glad I got it now. It had been checked out and the insides have all been taken apart, cleaned and oiled and given a clean bill of health. I think I made a good decision too. It even came with all the accessories. I am super excited to use it.
