i would love to try elderberry, i've heard of them but never even seen them. i made plum back in the spring, and last year made some blackberry. next year i hope to have enough strawberries. problem is my husband and i don't eat much, it's fun to make and give but gets expensive.

Well done you! I used to make all my own jams and chutneys when the children were at home. Now it is only too easy for the weight to pile on with too many sweet things so we eat as much fresh as we can and give the rest away. I really enjoy it when my neighbours grandchildren come to pick my plums and pears. And what a blessing to have plenty to share with my neighbours.

I used to make jam. I'll make jam again after I get rid of the glass top stove I have now. I like to make two fruit jams. My absolute favorite was the blackberry-plum.

I'll tell you what. . . . you make it and I will sample them to let you know if you should keep them or not.

I want to make some rounds of apple butter. I'm trying to get away from high-frutose corn syrup (which seems to be in everything), and I finally found one in a Sprout's grocery.

My pear butter turned out nicely. I want to make some more of it while I still have pears on my tree.

I love, love, love homemade blackberry and strawberry jams. My mom used to make jams, but I've never learned (and don't have any garden to speak of this year anyway). I'm so envious of your jam. :)
