The Ann the Gran site has lots of free designs, but you get what you pay for. I'd rather pay for a design from Embroidery Library and get something that will stitch out nicely. They often have designs for $1.

I do not go to any embroidery message
boards anymore, but I DO have 3 websites
that I LOVE to get my designs from.
Many have already mentioned Embroidery
Library, I buy MANY designs from this site
I absolutely LOVE FSL (free standing lace)
designs and have been slowly working on
getting some inventory made so that I can
get them posted on my online studio to sell.
The other two design sites I really like are:
A Design in Stitches http://www.adesigninstitches.net/
at $45 per year it is not a bad deal for unlimited downloads
at least in my opinion.
DK Embroidery http://www.embroiderydk.com/
this site has great quality designs, but it can be some
what costly. I purchased a yearly membership last
year but it has since expired and right now it is just
not in my budget to renew my annual membership.
They do have monthly memberships and the one I
prefer is the $9 per month (don't remember annual cost)
but with the listed cost above you get an email WEEKLY
with all the new design attached.
There are MANY websites to get designs from and
many of these websites have limited free designs
each day, week or month. As far as the BEST quality
free designs (which are done monthly) is at embroidery
library (so far that I have found).
At this current time I have OVER 90,000 designs with
about 75-80% being names in 2 different font styles.

I love Advanced Embroidery. I have stitched out several of her dog designs and they have all turned out great. I have always received great service.
I have tried a couple of FSL, but mine haven't turned out great. I haven't given up yet, but still need to try some different ideas to make them look better.

I seldom use free sites. The designs I like are Anita Goodesign. They cost more, but stitch out so well, that I'm willing to buy them. I don't have many but use them alot. Check out the website; they now have quilt in the hoop designs. I haven't tried them as yet.

I love ATW Artistic Thread Works. Holly and Larry are marvelous and I have gotten tons of designs the cost to join is reasonable for what you get all their designs stitch out perfectly I have never had a problem with them I have stitched them on a PE150, Babylock Ellure, and a PR600 and they were perfect. I also used a Brother embroidery machine purchased at Walmart. They also have a wonderful community to get advice and tons of help with using any type of embroidery machine you want to use. I also love Martha Pullen. and I use Embroidery Library alot as well.

I can't seem to find Lickety Split and would like to check them out. Can anyone help me with the URL?
I also like ATW and have a membership. At the beginning of the year DesignsBySick had an entire year for a very low price. I joined. I have sewn out many of their designs and so far have had none that didn't turn out nicely.

I'm so glad you asked this question. I bought a Janome sewing embroidery machine last weekend and have had a lot of fun looking at designs. I discovered Embroidery Library right away, plus I ordered a couple from Ebay, but now I will check out some of the others suggested here!.
