Hi, I'm Melinda from Tulsa. I'm a 50 something wife, mother and grandmother. I've been sewing off and on for 35+ years, more off than on! I used to garment so, but having a hard time fitting this aging body anymore :( so I am turning to other areas of sewing. I like to do machine embroidery, crafts, home dec and am about to start quilting. Hope I learn alot from y'all.
It's nice to be here.

Thank you all for the warm welcome. I am about to start a baby quilt for my 2 year old GD just as soon as I get my courage up! I don't have an eye for color and that terrifies me

One quick way to get matching fabric is to pick your busy fabric....now look at the side salvages....you will see dots sometimes.......just match those dots to get the color or shades you want.....hope that tip will help you....

I bought a baby quilt kit with already cut fabric that is just a simple single patch. Squares are 5 inches each. Instruction say to sew the seam at 1/2 inch, but I'm going to 1/4 inch seams.

I may start on a different one first tho. Every other block with an embroidered pony in it. My GD already loves horses! Planning on putting sashes (?) between each block. I'm just not sure what size block to cut. The designs are for a 4x4 hoop and I'm not sure what kind of stabilizer to use with it, cut, tear it away or make it the same size as the block and leave it. Any suggestions?
