I'm sorry, my mother was a bit OCD about sewing--I didn't realize not pressing was an option! I would definitely press, though, just because it flattens it out and you'll get more accuracy. It looks just lovely, though! I love the fabrics you've picked out. You certainly have an eye for quilting :)

The size you chose is a great lap. I think you should always press before sewing blocks. It makes them lay flatter and easier for seams to match up. The colors are pretty.Good job so far, can't wait to see the finish.

Beautiful fabrics and love the design. Please don't be offended but on the bottom row, should the second pink and floral block be reversed? I just noticed all of your pink fabrics are in a row except this one.

Your quilt is coming along quite nicely, especially for a first quilt. Definitely press as you go is the way to go - it just makes the blocks and quilt go together that much easier and faster. The operative word here is "press", not ironing - which is a back and forth motion. It's tempting to want to "iron" (old habits are hard to break), but just press as you go and you'll do fine.
