Hey! That's 7 miles from my house!!

A little shop in Braidwood IL is the closest. Countryside Village - on Rte 113 at the I55 exit. It's small, but the staff is great and they have a craft department, gourmet shop, and wine shop. If your lucky enough you get there on wine tasting day!!

A bit further (20 miles?) in Morris is my favorite shop. The Fabric Center. They don't have a website so I included the Yahoo link which gives all the details. It's my favorite LQS because it has a sizable selection and an outstanding staff. They are Janome dealers as well. Did I say the staff was outstanding??

A little further and in the opposite direction is B&J Sewing Center in Bourbonnais IL (the drive out there along the river is lovely this time of year). I've only been in there once. Nice place albeit a tad cramped. Nice staff.

About the same distance as BJ's is Roberts Sewing Center in Joliet/Crest Hill. This place is enormous!! But ... the staff leaves a lot to be desired. Lots and lots of fabric. Good selection of batiks and lots of flannels.

Lastly but not to be missed ... and a bit of a distance, but worth it is Old Timers Quilting Heaven. WOW! Big place, looks small, but it's a bunch of different rooms to wander through. NO BATIKS, but a room full of homespuns - way cool. Staff of one was great :) Definately worth visiting. Loved it there.

Will also PM you. As I said - Wilmington is 7 miles from me, in fact our business is located there. Perhaps if your relatives don't want to visit shops ... you and I can do it together. I can drive as I know my way around.
