And with fake silk and with other decorator fabrics.

A friend gave me a couple of dozen fabric sample books, which she in turn got from a retiring interior decorator. Some of them are wonderful embroidered silk!

The useable pieces are small, after you cut off the glued on cardboard, etc., but since I make mostly minis, I'm doing OK with small pieces.

Here are the first three I've made.

This one is made with 'faux duponi' samples (100% polyester). I used the back side of the fabric, as it is shinier.

This one is real silk, embroidered. Great fabric, very tightly woven, very little raveling.

This is all polyester! The center is 'faux duponi', right side up this time. The outer fabrics are more like upholstery fabric.

How interesting. Was it hard to sew with? I would think the polyester to be slippier than the silk. I especially like the middle one. Thanks for sharing...Little Elise was looking over my shoulder--she says the middle one is "gorgeous" :-) :-) :-)

Yes, the polyester smooth fabric is very slippery and very ravely, and a pain! However, the upholstery fabric, which is all or part poly, is very nice to work on, but thick. I'm thinking it might make good mug rugs.

There is some 100% cotton in some of the books. Haven't gotten to them yet. The silk is so pretty!

How old is Elise?
