I wanted to make a lap quilt to ward off the winter chills, so I choose Asian florals to help recall the colours of a summer garden. I used Hobbs wool batting, which has a lovely lightness, yet cosiness to it. I chose to machine quilt with my walking foot and did SID and an orange peel pattern in the blocks. The finished size is 50 inches by 72 inches.
    Thank you for looking!

This is beautiful! I made one similar and used a pattern titled "County Lines". What pattern did you use? I think the black accents the asian prints so well.

That is a royal beauty! I absolutely love the fabrics and how you put them together. You will have spring and summer all winter.

I'm not usually drawn to Asian type quilts but this is gorgeous. Would you share the pattern?

Thank you for your kind comments.
The pattern I found to show off the fabrics is free on Robert Kaufman’s site at

    http://www.robertkaufman.com/quiltin...ican_heritage/
I altered the lower left hand corner slightly and added an extra border.

If you like this one you might also like a similar one free on Fabric Freedom's site at
    http://www.fabricfreedom.co.uk/Resou...ht%20Quilt.jpg
    & for instructions
    http://www.fabricfreedom.co.uk/Resou...structions.pdf
this one is smaller at 38" x 47".

I love the way the black sashing makes the prints look brighter, the close up shows that better. While I was putting it together I was afraid it might look a bit of a hotchpotch, but the extra border seemed to bring it all together.
