The quilt I am working on uses triangles and instructs you to cut squares and then cut the squares twice to get the triangles. Will they stretch? Do you recommend using the triangles on a roll for a pattern? I am a beginner and would like your advice. Thanks so much.

When you cut 4 triangles (quarter square triangles) from a square, the 2 sides that made the "X" when you cut will be bias edges & will be stretchy...but the outside edge will be on the straight of grain, so they'll be more stable on that edge. As long as you're reasonably careful handling the triangles, you should be OK.

I haven't ever used the triangles on a roll, so I can't answer that part of your question. But I'm sure someone here will know! :D

Darlene,

Use the SEARCH option listed above. Search for "quarter square triangles". There is a discussion (with illustrations) on this subject with the last response on July 23. It should help you.

Hi- I've used the triangle papers on a roll lots. I love them!! My daughter-in-law that is a beginning quilter has also used them with great success. On the Thangles website there are a few patterns and ideas to help you lay your quilt out. Have fun :)
