thank you all for such encouragement. (I wasn't getting notifications of this thread).

the binding is machiine sewn on the front and I started the hand sewing on the back. I need to move it downstairs so I can work on it on the couch instead of sitting at the sewing table.

Well, it certainly doesn't show the stress you mentioned in getting it done! it is lovely and the backing fabric really sets off your quilting. Sometimes it is just what we need a break in what we were doing.
