Default Member Alert!!! Beware Gift Card Advertisements

Several members have noticed an "advertisement" the states we have won a WalMart Gift Card.

DO NOT CLICK ON THIS AD. IF YOU CLICK ON IT, CLOSE IT IMMEDIATELY AND DO NOT FOLLOW THE STEPS it claims will lead to the Gift Card.

This ad is not sanctioned by the Quilting Board or by our parent company.
I do not believe the ad is sanctioned by WalMart, either.

Ads like this are misleading. If you fall for the trap they set you will find yourself flooded with junk email. You might also find several mysterious and expensive charges to your cell phone bill because of the phone-text messages also generated.

The creeps who generate ads like this are very clever and determined. Our technical team blocks as many of them as possible. The fake WalMart gift card ad has already been blocked once. Whoever publishes them has apparently found a way around that block.

The technical team will continue the efforts to block this ad and all ads like it. If you see one, please report it immediately. provide as many details as possible about where and when you saw it. if you know how to take and send a screen-shot, please do that.

send the reports by email to [email protected]

I got the Wal-mart ad in a pop up on the top of the QB page. It's been there on and on today. I don't click on any of these anyway. I also get similar emails from Target, Home Depot and Ruby Tuesdays.

Any add that says I've won a $1000.00 gift card from WalMart has to be fake. WalMart doesn't have to put out that kind of money to get one person in their stores. I've wondered too how they get on places like this board. You won't find me clicking on the ad. (If they only said $10, it would be more believable.)

For that matter never open an email link in an email or sites you visit that makes such a claim. And certainly NEVER give out your phone number and especially cell phone number if asked. You will be bombarded with spam for sure.
