Default Have you ever quilted a song?

Several weeks ago I saw a mention by Nanaquilts44 that she is part of a local guild that has a challenge to make a quilt based on a song. I just love this idea! I'm going to set a personal challenge to make two projects in 2012 that are inspired by a song. I'm thinking probably wall hangings. I have so many ideas.

Have any of you ever quilted something that was inspired by a song? Please share.

Mine would have to be "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" as I just love all kinds of star blocks!

I saw a contest with this theme once. The one I liked was Blue Swade shoe's. They used a piano keyboard for a border, it was pretty cool. Grace

I did American Pie. Was a lot of fun to incorporate some of the song's words into the wallhanging.

I'm working (still in design and fabric choice stage) on a series that are mid-60's songs with color titles...Black is Black (1966), Blue on Blue (1964), Mellow Yellow (1966), Purple Haze (1967), Red Rubber Ball (1966), A Whiter Shade of Pale (1967), and Green Tambourine (1967). Orange has me stumped, but I'm still digging. They'll each be monochromatic batiks.

I have not quilted a song for a theme, but i did put the notes from Blackbird from the Beatles on the border (5 solid strips creating the background for the notes) for a raffle quilt for a local music group's fundraiser (with a tree and bird print fabric)... the musicians in the crowd couldn't resist figuring out the notes right away and I thought it would be an inside joke... they got me immediately!
