Default First quilt is done...

The binding was too short so it would not fold over to the back so I had to tug the front over to the back which made the corners mess up. But for my first time every doing a quilt, I think it turned out pretty good.

Since I still can't cut straight...lol, it is about 30"x40". Still a good size for a travel baby blanket. I used Warm and Natural batting, not too thick so it would fold easily.

It's a beautiful quilt - especially for a first one!

That turned out beautifully and congratulations on solving a problem. I have found I need to make bindings a little wider than my usual when I do a minkee back but I just love the feel of that fabric.

Such a bright pretty quilt. Love the fabric with the birds. Perfect for some sweet little baby to snuggle in. Great job. I'm not far behind you. I'm a new quilter too. But, I really enjoy the creative process. Keep up the great work.

Well done you. It looks great. As a hint - there are particular ways of doing corners on binding so it may be that or as you say it may be the minky that is thicker preventing you from turning. Love your colours. Keep up the great work.

I like the way the binding ends up looking like piping on the edge of the quilt. All "mistakes" provide a design opportunity and a chance to learn. So you adapted......we all do that! I agree with the advice above, make the binding a little wider when using a heavy background like Minky. good for you - let's see your SECOND quilt!

Very nice! I am sure the baby will love it and never notice any mistakes. And a first quilt using minkee was very brave.

Each problem is an opportunity to learn, sounds like you handled it well. Great job and congratulations on your "Firstie!"

Thanks! It was the darn dots that messed me up...and thus the corners since it made it even thicker. But it is washed, dried, and boxed up ready to mail. I know my friend will love it.

My second quilt will be for my mom and will NOT have minky! lol
