Default 66-

Post a couple of weeks ago that I had purchased a 66-
that full of dirt, cobwebs, etc. for $20.

Well I cleaned all that out, about 1/2 spool of thread wrapped
around every thing it could possibly be around, & oiled her.

Adjusted the belt (I think it is the original leather belt).

Now she purrrrrrrrs like a kitten.

Named her Minnie after my maternal grandmother.

JJ,

That's 66-16 by the configuration of it. Beautiful machine. Beautiful cabinet too. I'll be it sews nice straight stitches.

The 66 series is my favorite Singer machine. I have 5 of 'em.

Did you mean the cabinet was cherry wood, or in cherry condition? Just curious as I have one just like yours in the same kind of cabinet only much much more used.

J Miller
The people I purchased from said the cabinet was cherry, but I think it is walnut.

I looked it up on the International Sewing Machine Collectors' Society (http://www,ismacs.net_sewing_machine...ny/72_cab.html)
and it says it is a #72 Walnut.

But the cabinet is (cherry as in) very few scratches and I love it.

The decal on the front of the machine shows (66-). But 66-16 seems to fit it to.

Have already made a quilt top on her.

I have one just like that, the cabinet looks the same only it needs to be refinished. Mine was a gift from a dear friend of mine. It looks almost brand new. Love the 66-16. and mine purrs like a kitten!!!!!!
