Am not really sure why you are knocking yourself down on this quilt. It is wonderful and it doen't look like it would be your first one ever. You did a great job on the flying geese and there are many easy ways if you look up flying geese on google you will find some really easy ways to do them and they wouldn't take long and you wouln't have to spend the extra money on a fancy dancy ruler. JIMVHO. Please finish and show it off. Nice job!!!!

I'm a fairly new quilter as well, and find that my projects never turn out as I envisioned them. I think I'm color challenged.
This quilt looks very nice to me, but I am wondering why the stars recede and the white triangles dominate. How would you choose and place colors if you wanted the stars to dominate and the triangle pattern to recede?

I really like it. So if you want to get rid of it, send it my way. If this is your first time with flying geese, then you have done very well. My first was not as nice. I love the coloration you have done with it. It shows off the stars and squares. Keep up the good work. You will get better as time goes on. None of us are total masters of the art. We all just like to have fun and you did good.

For a first quilt, that is quite an accomplishment. You need to pat yourself on the back. I took the easy road for my first one, a three rail. You just jumped into the deep end right off the bat and did a great job.
