Is there any place that sells new parts for these old machines? Husband is reluctant to buy other used parts to replace the faulty ones.

Depends on the parts...most of the mechanical parts are not available new...you have to buy them used. The tension units, bobbins, motors, etc. can all be bought new.

I prefer original parts. They are simply made better. All new parts are China made, I'm afraid... Depending on which parts you're looking for, the vintage parts are typically my first choice.
