I recently finished hand-stitching this quilt top. The Nine-Patch was my Granny's favorite pattern to use. I hope to get it in the frame to finish soon. I'm not going to quilt it.........just tie it out.

Hi Shirley. Very nice! The 9 patch block was one of my favorites. I made quite a few of them when I started to quilt in 2000. I had never made quilts but had sewn just about evertyhing else.

What got me started was a big garbage bag full of fabrics I found at a flea market. Paid all of $5 and later discovered I had over 50 yards of fabric. I did not plan what I would do with it when I bought it, but then it occured to me that I could play around with that much fabric. I cut a lot of fabric in 3 1/2 inch strips, 45 inches wide. I figured out how to make 2 sets of strips so I would have enough to make 12 sets of blocks. When I put them together, I sorted the piles of blocks and came up with color schemes that made a diagonal pattern. I thought they looked pretty good.

Since then, I have made a few other designs and would like to continue to experiment and figure out how to make other designs or patterns. As I always say, it keeps me out of trouble and off the streets!

Enjoy your quilting. It is something that will last forever...even when you are a granny.

My favorites are traditional. I like the idea of using so much pretty fabric. It seems like a new quilt with every few blocks. Good JOB

Lovely quilt - you can never go wrong with a 9 patch, and the scrappier, the happier! Great job!
