There have been several posts about Rowenta irons catching on fire.

What is the best way to put out that fire?

Or, lacking the supplies/tools for the best way - what will work?

Do not use water! A fire extingusher (sp) would be the best way. I wonder if you could use flour or something else to smother the flame out.....I will be watching this thread for sure since I have a Rowenta iron.

If it is smoking unplug and let cool. If there are flames then unplug or trip the beaker if you can't reach the iron. I guess my first thought would be to drown it in starch after unplugging.

I keep baking soda handy for nearly any kind of fire. I would be afraid of flour dust causing an explosion. Baking soda works for electrical and grease fires.

I never had flames just shooting sparks and a blown circut. Would never have another Rowenta. Too risky
