    Default pincushions

    I have been making pincushions : ) I fill them with crushed walnut shells.

    both are great. the heavy thread on the petals... what that sewn by machine? what kind of thread is it?

    Thank you! I buy my crushed walnut shells at a pet store(they are sold for reptiles : ) It is a 10 quart bag, but as many pincushions as I plan to make, it is cheaper than buying at a LQS.

    I hand stitch them(the appliqué was the kind where you use interfacing and turn), the embroidery thread is single ply.
    I find hand stitching relaxing : )
