Default Amethyst Block quilt

This quilt was made by my Grandmother, I wanted to share a pic. I know lots of you would like to see this quilt as well. When I did a google search for the block name Amethyst was what I found. I found no pictures of finished quilts. If any one else had one please share your pictures with us.

Just lovely. Thanks for sharing. Our family quilts are so special. I really like the yellow background, my favorite color.

It almost looks like the Periwinkle quilt that Jenny just did on MSQC. Hers doesn't have the square in the center though, I wonder if it is a variation?

I do not know what Jenny did on MSQC, but hers could be a variation of this block. When I was searching for the name of it I saw some without the square in the center, they had a different name.

Beautiful!!! I have a quilt my Great-Grandmother pieced and then later my Grandma hand quilted. It's hanging on my quilt ladder in my bedroom so I get to see it everyday.

This is another one Grandma made. She embroidered the blocks and then hand quilted it. She traveled quite a bit with her group of friends and I remember her telling me she was almost finished with this and it had gotten dirty on one of her trips. So without thinking she tossed it in the washer and all of the quilting pattern came off! She spent the next month tracing it back onto the fabric.

These are treasures to me since she passed away May 2012.

I didn't find any pic of quilts but did find a easier way to make the block.
