Default removing grime from doors

My bedroom & bathroom doors are painted white (oil-based paint). The areas around the knobs are grimy compared to the rest of the door. I have tried various things(bleach, those calcium/lime/rust cleaners and plain dish liquid) but none do a good job.
Thought I would ask here...what will remove this grime?
Thanks for your help.

Sometimes it's easier, to just touch up the paint.

That said, my first line of defense would be a wet wipe (you'd be amazed, at what those things can do!). Then I'd try gently rubbing the spots, with an eraser. After that, I'd try to find matching paint and just paint over it.

Maybe nothing, but more paint. Sounds like the dirt has been rubbed into the paint surface. Don't worry, go sew.

My inside doors have a knob plate around the door knob. I guess you can find them at a home store when you get yours clean or repainted.

I actually like the Lysol brand spray cleaner with bleach 4-in-1, the one with green color label. Just make sure you don't get it on your clothing...

try some Goo Be Gone! I use that on a lot. If it can remove gum it should remove the grime. Another thing you might try is "Resolve" with Dawn. It takes grime away. It'll take the grime off an oven. Wear gloves.

I agree with Mr. Clean Eraser. They do a beautiful job on my white painted doors.

Sometimes baking soda applied with a damp cloth helps. It is a very mild abrasive, so it might dull a highgloss finish.

409 usually works for me. If 409 didn't work, I would repaint (after trying the Mr. Clean magic eraser first!).
