This probably should be a new thread, but could you add appliques that are really pockets which could hold small items such as tissues, a cell phone, or whatever an individual might want handy and not have the energy to get up to find? Just asking as I was thinking of making some throws myself. Love all of the suggestions for "sparking" up the throw. The basics are there! Looking forward to seeing your finished project?

Ruth, your quilts are adorable. Did you use the Accuquilt Go rick rack die to make that first border?

I agree. I think a red border would really add some sizzle, and my second choice would be that darker blue in the quilt. Nice job! Your friend will feel very loved, I'm sure.

Appliqued flowers with leaves would look lovely.. groups of 3 or 5.... here and there but don't over do it...

If you want to cut and paste, that could also change it up. Here are some great ideas I've found and saved in my "scrappy strippy quilts" file
I would really like this pattern. Where can I get it?

I copies this pattern from a Pinterest post by Amy Hughs. It turned out to be one of my most favorite quilts. I made it for my DGD with batiks. I am hooked on Batiks. The back is Minky. At first, I thought I would hate the Minky but it worked out very well. I spray basted the Minky back to the quilt and it did not budge at all. I FMQ it on my domestic machine and it was great.
