Default How shoudl I quilt my fairy quilt godmother?

So, I finished her. I think I'm not really a piecing person. I don't enjoy the exactness of the process nor do I like to sew short, short lines with my machine. I think I'm more a FMQ person.

Being a beginner there is still one part of the process that escapes me. How do I quilt something like this? I could quilt her hair and the background and perhaps her dress. Would that be enough or will her face look dull? I mean - it's such a big surface?

I've yet to add the borders but here she is... my crazy fairy quilt godmother. Let her bring happiness and harmony to all my future projects:

She turned out just wonderfully!
How are you going to use the finished piece? I'm guessing a wall hanging. If it's not going to be handled a lot, I would leave her face un-quilted. You might want to stitch in the ditch around her mouth, eyes and eyebrows, but other than that, just quilt as you mention: hair, dress & background.

Ok, thanks for the advice. I'm going to hang her in my sewing room so she won't be handled. I'll quilt as you suggest!
She's not perfect but I really like her. I think she got some of my personality!

Just checked on mine, I did a stitching line just inside "my" face and made a few swirly hair curls as well. You can see some of the quilting http://www.quiltingboard.com/picture...r-t137133.html

Great job on yours, fun and almost done!

Thanks for the input! I got her quilted and ready. I'm pleased with her but my old Viking decided to act up and I had thread tension issues and stitch length issues. One of the belts must have caught some oil since it seemed like it was slipping. Here she is:
