Fabric requirements for Hunter's Star

Anyone who has made a queen size Hunter's Star in 2 colors, How much of each fabric did you use? I'm looking at the 12" block pattern at Quilter's cache, which calls for a 6" strip of each color. It looks like you could cut more than one block out of each 6" strip. I found some fabrics I love but don't want to buy yards too much. Can anyone advise?

Try eQuilters and look up hunters star. They have a 12 inch star plus fabric amount etc.
