I'm thinking those loose threads could be baste stitches, in which case you'll find the same long stitches on the back, or they could be the tail end of the quilting thread that you haven't yet buried and trimmer. Adorable quilt, tho.

I would finish it. The quilting looks fine to me.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the hand quilting! Do not take it out! Repeat! Do not take it out! I don't know what the stray threads are. Others suggest that they are tails you meant to bury later. If the quilt were mine, I would snip them off and forget them. And if I wanted to finish it with machine quilting, I would do that and put an explanation on the label. My labels nearly always give lots of information about the quilt. froggyintexas

The quilt is adorable and your hand quilting is really good. I would finish the hand quilting!

What I see and know (which isn't much) about hand quilting, you look like you have it mastered. I would keep hand quilting. It is going to be a very nice quilt. Check to make sure they are the tails of your thread that just needs to be cut. If it looks like they need to be buried, then do that before you cut.

It's adorable. If you are up to it, I think you should leave the stitching and finish it by hand. All the Christmas wall hangings that I have made for my daughters, I did by hand, and glad I did. So many of you ladies inspire me to finish up my UFO's, and try your ideas. Very nice, and I hope you finish it.
