Default Applying snaps

Can anyone recommend a good, I call them snap applier. I'm using a hammer now to put snaps in, but I hate having to use a hammer. Suggestions, please. Thanks!

Hmm. I prefer to sew snaps in, I don't like fasteners that attach directly to the fabric, I've had too many experiences with the fabric being cut or wearing a hole at that spot. Especially those dang hook-and-slides for slacks. Whose brilliant idea was it to have those slide thingies poke into a single layer of fabric, instead of being reinforced with interfacing?

However, I seem to remember there is a special tool you can use to attach snaps, I've seen it at Hancock's Fabrics and Joann's. Maybe check into that?

I've got a tool kit for applying snaps that, sad to say, I haven't opened since I got it about 20 years ago (yikes!). Mine is a Prym, but Dritz has a lot of them. The tool looks like a pair of pliers. I have a kit with some adapters that can be stuck on the pliers to accommodate multiple sizes of snaps. If you check Amazon for "snap fastener" or "snap fastener tool", you will find several options.

You can also find them at Tandy Leather and possibly at Hobby Lobby with the leather kits.

It depends what kind of snap you apply.

I now own this tool !!! OMG I wish I had found it 40 years ago. a perfect set every time.
I ordered the tool and the bench mount for easy pressure to apply the snaps. I use a fast clamp to secure it to a table top.
I can’t tell you hoe many snaps I have taken off with a screwdriver/wire cutter/drill! Now, never again.
This site has wonderful how to videos on many things.
Plus: this is their new invention
