    Default Scrappy floral top finished

I need something that didn't require any thinking as I've been trying to watch the Olympics (I don't see how those of you actually watch stuff while you sew--normally I listen to Audiobooks)...and I liked what Sherry (gigiray...) did with a scrappy quilt I saw on the Scrappy quilt show thread. I wrote her for details.

She graciously shared her know-how with me and I made up an all floral quilt--made of scraps.

I already had 3.5" strips cut up so all I had to do was cut them into 6.5" lengths and I already had a lot of 3" strips, which I used for the smaller side.

Since you put the squares together totally randomly, that didn't require too much thinking either so I could focus on watching Poland get a couple of golds!

I have plenty more 3.5" strips and other scraps to easily make another. Every single print is floral.

Here is the block: 6.5" square. The larger segments start out cut 3.5" x 6.5" and the sashings (white) are all finished 1" (I used 1.5" strips--I did have to cut that). The right side I used 3" strips, 1.5" sashing, sewed them together and then subcut into 2.5" segments.

and the layout as EQ6 suggested--but really, mine is pretty random.

I really appreciate Sherry helping me with the directions! I love how it turned out. Maybe I'll try it again only using black--as soon as the local store gets black back in stock. (Hopefully on Monday.)

    Finished size: 96.5" square.

This is beautiful, and I like how the white calms down the florals. I have a huge collection of floral scraps too, and this may be the solution for using some of them. I also listen to audio books when sewing, but I have learned that it's best to turn off the book when I need to do something that requires real concentration.

Lovely quilt. The florals look so soft and pretty.

Great quilt I love how the white pulls it all together and gives it a shabby chic feel.....be sure to share the one with black sashing when it's done I bet it will be very striking.
