Default This is how you add to your stash (or acquire one)!

I found a pattern for a red and white quilt. Pulled all the fabric from my stash -- but needed 2 5/8 yard of a dark red. Found a piece at the quilt store and bought three yards. (only one fabric would go with what I had) Went to another quilt shop and found a better piece of fabric to match what I had so ended up buying it. Now I have 3 yards of red I won't be using. At least it is washed, ironed and ruler folded!

I know what you are saying. I have a stash I can get to. When i pull out one item, it leads to another pile of something I have that I forgot about.

I have a double deep closet for my stash. I was always digging to see what I have. So one day when I was in the mood to reorganize I rounded up all my clear bins in the house and started sorting. While I sorted I measured anything over 1 yard. My clear bins allow me to see what I have. Should have done it years ago!!

What happens to me: I'll be searching for the perfect shade of green. Will finally find some here and there. Purchase it, use it, move on to the next project. But then all I see is that shade of green I'd been looking for so long!

Look at it this way. The next time you need to get something from the lqs it won't be that particular red. That is of course, if you have enough for the next project. This pattern of only getting what I really need, has allowed me to accumulate rooms of yardage. Joyce in DE

I think now you need to go shop for something to go with that red you bought at the first shop.
