I would like to know the best (easiest) way to hand or machine quilt this king sized quilt that I just sandwiched together. Anyone's suggestions are welcomed. Thanks

At a minimum, I'd ditch quilt it, adding a pretty circular feather design to the open areas. If feathers seem too complicated, try a simpler circular/wreath style design featuring flowers, leaves or a continuous line swirl.

I would quilt on the diagonal thru the chain and put something nice in the big center blocks.

Thank you Terri for responding to my question. I was thinking about doing a design of some sort, maybe a leaf, in the plain blocks but didn't know what to do with all those 2" squares. I had thought about the 1/4 inch outline in those, doing all of this by hand. I have one of those PVC Pipe quilting frames that I just finished a twin sized quilt on. This frame is very easy to use and takes up less space than the large quilting frame I have. After moving in with my daughter and son-in-law, I do not have room for the large frame. I will have to think about this for a while. Thanks again.

Thanks cjsews for responding to my question. Your answer sounds nice too. I would have to draw my diagonal lines since I want to do the quilting by hand. Thought of drawing a leaf (maple) in the center of the center blocks. Thanks again.

Instead of drawing a line, you can use blue painter's tape on the quilt top to keep your lines straight. Much easier and faster! The tape is reusable too. Would work well in the PVC type frame.

Edit: For designs in the center areas, I would find it easier to switch to a lap hoop -- the type that allows you to easily make adjustments in the positioning. Mine swivels on a wooden ball but is no longer sold; the closest I have seen to it is the Grace lap hoop.

Thanks Prism99 for the tip of using painter tape rather than drawing lines. That would be much faster and probably more even than my drawing...lol I have a round lap hoop that doesn't have a stand but would be easy to use in my recliner. Thanks for the tips and take care.
