Smile kitchen quilt ready for delivery

My kitchen quilt is finally finished. It is back from LAQ, bound and the final accents added. It turned out to be an over-size queen. On each appliqued flower is a yo-yo topped with a button to finish off the center of the flower. It now heads to Delaware to a darling niece.
We made her first quilt when she was 4 or 5 using polyester rectangles, a poly back and then knotted it. (Needless to say I didn't have a clue about real quilting back then!) Many years later at her wedding she told me she still had that quilt and it was going on their bed. That touched my heart..
A few years back they had a fire and what didn't burn was destroyed by smoke... when making the quilt I wasn't sure where it's home would be until I saw her post that they were celebrating their 21st anniversary. My mind flashed back through the years and I knew where the quilt would end up... at the home of my darling niece, who appreciated that old poly quilt, to share with her husband.

What a beautiful story. It's always nice to give a quilt to someone who you know will appreciate it. And it is a lovely quilt.
