Default Modern Quilt Pattern

Im looking for a modern quilt pattern for a young man graduating from high school next year. Can you believe I might actually start it early so Im not scrambling at the last minute?!

I have googled it. I havent found anything that I am crazy about yet. Easy is good.

Please share if you have an idea!

Does he like sports and does his HS have a team? Logo blocks with geometric blocks?

I think logo blocks would be too hard for me. I am a new quilter.

Rail fence would also work (and it's easy too). Use his favorite colors or use a themed fabric. You can make it any size. Sounds like a good project.

I loved the one posted by Auntevie. The colour placement takes an easy, traditional Rail Fence block and makes it modern. If you use the search box and type in Modern railway with a twist, it should come up. She has a link to the instructions and pictures from the bloggers site.

This one is very easy. With blues or browns it would be great for a guy.
All the pieces are the same size, 2 1/2" x 6 1/2". It is even faster if you use 2 1/2" WOF strips, sew 3 together and cross cut into 6 1/2" lengths, then just sew one strip on the top and the bottom and your block is done. Finished block size is 6" x 10", so just make as many as you need for the size you want. Sew together vertically, staggering the blocks so there are no seams to match!

Here is one more in the same rectangle box pattern. Also, I made a bright colored quilt in the D9P pattern that looks modern. Both are for charity quilts for teenagers.

My teenage sons like this quilt I made for the man cave. I made it in my first year of quilting.
