Sail Boat Quilt for GGS to be born 9/12/14 additional info
For those Board members who have shown an interest in this quilt pattern, I am posting a closeup of the sailboat square. I tried to sew all of the pieces doubled and turned for 2 reasons; one this was easier for me and two because you could see the background fabric through the sail pieces. For the water piece that goes over the bottom of the boat, I used lite steam a seam and then just sewed that piece down. I did this with the flag also only I zig zagged around the flag. I tried that on the water but did not like the finished look. I'm sure that there are better ways of appliqueing than the way I did mine so good luck and thank you for your support.

Oh I think your sailboat size is the perfect size with the sky and sea. You quilt will be awesome. Good IDE with the blue sashing-- you may like the boat sizes better after you complete that part. Thank you for posting

I designed this quilt on my own using precut strips that turned out to be 2 3/4 inches wide. I checked "images" to see what real sailboats look like and designed this boat. Feel free to copy this quilt. I would be honored. The squares turned out to be 11 inches.
