3 cuts in an already completed block or 3 cuts through a square of fabric?

The five minute block uses three fabrics but no cutting. Maybe an Anita Grossman Solomon block? http://www.makeitsimpler.com/

Are you thinking of the make 3 baby size quilts with 3 cuts - one yard of each of 3 fabrics. I forgot how big to make the cuts, probably 5-10" on each side. If you leave the fabrics folded in half, you can cut an amount off each end, and an amount off the side. Then you mix up the fabrics, and get 3 quilts. 1 fabric in the center, 1 fabric in the 4 corners, and 1 fabric in the side cuts. If this doesn't make sense, I could draw a picture.

If I were inclined to do this, I would probably use 54" - 60" lengths of fabric to get a larger quilt.

You'd need the same length of 3 fabrics for the backing.

I've got it. Super-sized Nine Patch. It's 9" on each side. PM me with your email address.
