Has anyone gone on a quilting cruise? Was it fun? What about the classes and projects...were they a good value? Would you go on another quilting cruise? I am considering one to Alaska. It would cost about $2000 with an inside cabin and the quilt kit. But that does not include airfare to Seattle. Please give me your advice.

Find out how much time you are going to be able to use the machines. Can you sew all day or as long as you want in a day. OR are you only allowed a few hours of sewing time, because someone else is waiting to use the machine?? Also, they often sell the machines that are being used in class, so you might want to consider this as well.

I love cruising and I love quilting. However, a quilting cruise does not appeal to me. For me there is just too much to do on a cruise ship to take time for quilting.

my DD and I went on one in March "14....it was so much fun...flew to Baltimore, MA for 10days, stopped at Haiti, St thomas, and one other can't remember...there were 36 ladies and we had to share 18 Janome sewing machines...quilt kit included, on the days we didn't sew they had hand projects for us to do...2 days sewing "out" and 2 days sewing "back" LOL met some great ladies and they had oodles of door prizes so no one went home without something...OBTW bought a new janome...LOL would do it again....did get in some swimming and the meals were OOTW....

I really enjoyed my quilt cruis...learned from teachers that were outstanding...had plent of time to relax and enjoy the trip.

I had a friend who went on a quilting cruise in Alaska, and she loved it. The drawback was, there were quilting activities scheduled at the same time as some cruising and onshore activities that she wanted to participate in, and she had to choose one or the other.

I've signed up for a cruise to Alaska in 2015. I'm going to check to see if you have an individual machine My only problem so far is they don't allow you to use irons. You have to go to the laundry room to iron. I use my iron all the time. Has anyone been restricted on ironing?

Went on one to the Caribbean. Sewing was 24/7 if you chose to do it. Classes were on sea days. Everyone had their own bernina machine. We had three projects, three instructors, and they were all fun. I did not finish any of the three, but two of them are close. The third one is in a box waiting. I would go on another in a heartbeat, if money and health were both better. Go and HAVE A GREAT TIME!!!

Oops - forgot -- ironing was in the same room, no problems there.

Bonnie Hunter has a new cruise coming up next year with just her as an instructor. You would work on the same project the whole cruise to the Bahamas I think? I would take it but I get sea sick so cruising is not for me.
