how difficult would it be to convert my 66 back to a treddle? I am thinking I just need to find a treddle that will fit it and get a new belt. then peddle away!!!

my 66 sews nicely.. it had a HC put on it.. so I could just remove that and install it in a treddle cabinet..



also, I just won on GW online a singer 223.. pretty happy about it. paid very little and shipping was not too bad.. LOL considering it weighs a TON.. was reading about the 223.. from what I can find it was the only vintage singer made in japan.. but is a singer.. has Canadian motor but built in Japanese singer factory..
it does SS, ZZ, and blind stitch.. and can drop the feed dogs for free motion..

If your 66 still has the spoked hand wheel then all you need is to put it back in a treadle cabinet and put a new belt on it. It's that simple.

yep you can leave the crank on it. just stick a belt on and get to it .

I have a Singer 223 - I like it but with a caution - behind the bobbin area is open - you will need to keep lint out and keep it greased at the same time - take care of that and you should be ok.

Find yourself a Singer treadle cabinet and it should drop right in. New belts are easy to get at Sew-Classic.com or Ebay.

I'm so glad to hear that. I just had a hand crank put on my Singer Red Eye, and happy to know that I can put it in a cabinet and use it as a treadle. I have a stand, and the top and one drawer are available, but would need to be put back together.

thanks for the hint on the 223. from what I have read, it is a work horse of a machine...

When the grandkids are here, I put a hand crank on my 66 and just shift the treadle belt off the lower wheel. When they go home the hand crank gets put back in the drawer.
