Default Crown Royal Bags

I have sat and taken apart 50 large and 10 small Crown Royal bags and ironed all of the pieces. Now wondering what pattern to make with them. Googled C/R bag quilt and like several that are posted. I also need to get a solid gold fabric for this quilt top.

I've heard the purple bleeds a lot; you may want to test that ;-)

There have been some posted on QB. Use the search to find them for some ideas.

I don't have a photo, but I recently saw one in a quilt show that was a square in a square in a square and was purple, gold and green. With the purple bags of course. It was perfect for Mardi Gras. The outer squares alternated with green next to the purple and gold next to the purple. DH mentioned, he would be happy to supply the bags if I wanted to make one. LOL.

I googled 'Crown Royal quilts' images and got loads of pics. Try that! Lots of great ideas.

I was given a large tote full of these bags a few years ago. I had no interest in them at all so gave them to my guild and a member made a simple nine patch quilt cutting the bags with the Go die. It was a really nice quilt but what is funny, it wasn't suitable for a donation quilt. I think the quilt is still in the guild closet waiting for the right person to need it. LOL

That's a great idea. I picked a pattern from the Google search I did on Crown Royal Quilts. It's the one that is yellow and purple, of course, star with the Crown Royal emblem the center of the square. I think I can replace green for some of the yellow squares. Being here in Louisiana I think Mardi Gras quilt will sale faster. Saving for a long arm.

The bags do bleed -- A Lot! So much prewashing is necessary if making a quilt that may be laundered. I found they are better suited to wall hangings that will not be laundered

My DIL made one and it was very stretchy so you might think about using Pellon!

A friend in our guild made one at retreat and we all "helped"! Was great fun and it turned out to be a beautiful quilt. She used a microfiber gold fabric for strips to sash it, and some black microfiber for blocks for fill. She had gold, purple and black bags, one even had racing checkered flag on it. We centered all the writing, used the tops of the bags with the gromets for binding, and she machine embroidered the last name in a large rectangle of black centered near the bottom. It was amazing!
