Born and raised in the Sonora desert area of the southwest, I can tell you... yep... southwest! But the even better thing is that it doesn't have that dorky "I bought this at a roadside diner" look that so many attempts at southwestern art quilts have. Ya done good! It's up-to-date, good use of color, and yet still has a nice traditonal feel to it. This will be a knock out once it's finished. JMHO! (By the way... I also lived for 17 years on the Navajo res, so yeah... I know what I'm talking about on that issue too. *snicker*)

I googled Navajo Arts and found this site, which has photos of art of four different southwest Indian tribes. NANACT stands for Northern Arizona Native American Culture Trail. My one suggestion is to add a touch of rust color.

I also vote for a rusty, red clay color.

I love the colors. I would love to try to make a bagello. I wish some one would do a tut on how to do one. Or maybe give me a name of an easy pattern that I couldtry. What is the name of your pattern? I love that you are using only 6 colors. That is something I could handle.

I live in the desert Southwest and I think you're close. The "twist" might be the all the traditional colors are not used. Generally don't see much pure white an something traditionally Southwest. Here's a link to some traditional colors you might find inspiring....
