What would an easy fast wheelchair lap quilt pattern be? I have 1/4 yard of 4 different fabrics to make my nephew thats got cerebral palsy a lap quilt he can use when he sits outside on the patio. And what would a good size be? Thanks

I am going to back it with just some flannel fabric.

I used the search function "wheelchair lap quilt" and found a qwillow link for a wheelchair. I have heard QB members using flannel to back the quilts to help keep them from slipping off.

A 4-color rail fence?

Or you could choose a two-color block (pinwheel? four-patch?) and alternate the blocks. In other words, fabrics 1&2 for block A, and fabrics 3&4 for block B. Then arrange A & B blocks in a checkerboard.

Our local nursing home wants them 36 X 36 so they don't get caught in the wheels

I made several in the rail fence pattern and a 4 strip rail fence looks good. Another simple pattern would be a box in a box with your 4 fabrics.

I have pieced a few quilts for men in a wheelchair. I also try for a 36" x36" quilt for the same reason as mentioned above.

How about the large star quilt from Missouri Stár? I don't know the size but it it will be easy to resize due to the large triangle pieces. Everyone likes to be a star.

Disappearing nine patch works well for guys, because you can choose "manly" fabrics. It makes up very quickly like rail fence.
