Default Soft Blue Wedding Quilt

This is a soft blue quilt I made for my great-nieces wedding gift. I asked my niece about her taste and her hint was that she is "an old-fashioned girl". I saw a heart quilt on the web, which was my inspiration for this romantic soft blue wedding quilt. I graphed it out on grid paper and took it from there. When it was pieced, I wasn't impressed with it, as it was very plain looking with all the blank areas. I usually like bright colors so this was a change, which I ended up liking a lot. It is queen size. I had the quilting done at my local quilt shop, Angelquilters. The pattern for the quilting is hearts and intertwined ribbons, and it was so fun picking it out of a pattern book, so many choices. I also selected a variegated blue thread, which made all the blank spaces I fussed about earlier look like the perfect backdrop for the quilting. The added color and texture from the quilting really made it perk up and come to life. I am going to hand stitch the binding, which I normally machine stitch, as it just looked like it needed that extra step. I also am making the label for the back. This is going to be hard to give away, as I really like it. It is great when we fall in love with our work, hope all that love goes to the bride and groom as they embark on their life adventure together.

That is gorgeous. The blue quilted hearts in the white space was a brilliant idea...

It's very pretty. Nice work on the design and choice of quilting. I can see why it will be hard for you to part with this one.
