Default Big block for Back of Quilt--Ideas?

I make two-sided quilts--always have and always will. Now, I have a 100 x 100 quilt (all half square triangles using batiks and neutrals) and need a back. Of course, it has to use a block…any block..any LARGE block. Any ideas?

There is a pattern called "Giant Vintage Star" posted for free by Jeni Baker. It is only 16 squares, 12 of which are half square triangles. Her tutorial shows it in 2 colors, 4 colors and 8 colors. http://www.incolororder.com/2011/08/...-tutorial.html I think her blocks are around 17 inches square but resizing should be easy. She uses vintage sheets, hence the name.

I used large rectangles on the back of the quilt in my avatar that was slightly smaller than your quilt. I cut about 15"x30 and used up a bunch of 1/2 yard pieces from my stash. I love how it came out.

Just enlarged the Yellow brick road for the back of one of my Bargello quilts.

Quilter's Cache has some very large block patterns. Scroll down & you will see sizes 24" & larger.

Thanks for the inspiration! I just made a super quick baby quilt top using 9" squares following the Giant Vintage Star tutorial. Will post in the pictures section.

I am trying to sew mostly from my stash so I have been piecing my backs instead of buying them. Look up quilt backs on Pinterest or modern quilts. I like to make my own version of modern quilts to piece my backs.
