I got burnt with the Harbor Freight blades, and one other online deal for "generic" blades. That was enough for me, I am a cheapo, but not when it comes to blades, if I'm gonna cut, I want it to cut!

I've never tried any blades other than the name brand so I can't speak to this really but I see lots of discussion on here about the HF blades and I don't get how some are sooo unhappy with them and have so much trouble with them and others never have trouble with them. Is it just that they are inconsistent? Non name brand companies are sometimes like this. I think if you don't mind the possibility of a hassle you should try these. Will you come back and let us know though? I'd like to know if it's worth a look. Thanks.

I once tried generic blades from an Amazon re-seller & they were junk. Good for cutting paper-backed fusible web & that's about it (same as my used Olfa blades). I sometimes will buy blades from JAF (on sale + additional 10% off with VIP card since I belong to AQS), but usually I find better deals from Amazon merchants. I just make sure they are Olfa blades in the original package. I buy 5 at a time & that lasts me for one quilt, or sometimes I'll buy 10 if it's a better deal (more than that is too expensive for me).

I only splurge on 4 things: fabric, thread, hand applique needles & rotary blades. Everything else I buy as cheap as I can find it or make my own. There just isn't anything like the feel of a brand new rotary blade slicing through freshly pressed fabric.

What kind of hand applique needles do you splurge on?

I haven't noticed the harbor freight blades being significantly different from any of the others. I manage to get any of them dull before I'm ready to quit using them. Lol!

You can use the "percent off entire order" coupons, however.
There are many exceptions to that, also. Patterns, for one thing.

My quilting friends and I get together and buy 100 blades at time and share them. We have had no trouble with them.
Tried HF blades once,never again.

I have also tried HF blades which did not cut very well, but I was able to return them for a refund.

I order a lot from this company and have never been disappointed.Sounds like a deal of a life time. The ones from Harbor Freight are sometimes not the best quality. I haven't seen this ad, I'll have to check it out!
