    Default What is a flimsy?

Someone placed an ad for a flimsy. Then went on to say she wanted it for a friend who needed a King size quilt. Is a flimsy just a backing and top? Thanks in advance for your input.

Someone decided this would be a cutesy word for "quilt top". I can't stand that name. I'm not big on 'cutesy'...

    I'm with you, sewbizgirl!

It makes it sound like it wasn't done well or is made of poor quality materials.

If it is a top then the back has raw seams which over time will fray. Am I correct.

For the longest time I couldn't figure out that term either- did figure out it's what some have decided to call their completed tops- to me its a negative term- my quilts are Not flimsy! I go to great lengths to make sure I create well constructed quilt tops and finished quilts I would be hurt/embarrassed/upset if someone called one of my quilts or tops ( flimsy) . so I really don't get it.

Calling a quilt top a "flimsy" makes it sound like it was made out of "crappy" material and not worth anything.
