Default Color for border?

I just finished piecing this pinwheel top and need to add a border to make it bigger. I can't decide what color to make the border and need your help. What color would you suggest for the border?

I would do an inner border of the light fabric and then you could do a outside border of one of the darker fabrics (prefer the dark blue) or if you have scraps, maybe try making a piano border.

What color fabric do you have the most of leftover? I make a lot of border decisions that way :-) Since you have sooo many colors to choose from most would look fine. My only concession would be to use lighter on the inner and darker on the outer border.

You could easily use the turquoise/light blue since none of those pinwheels are on the outside and thus won't get lost in the border and then use one of the other colors as an outer border if you want and inner and outer border. I love your quilt, it's beautiful!

How about a narrow light border, then a confetti fabric border with all the colors.

I would go with a neutral. Do you have some deep tan, or medium grey?

White! first a narrow white (about 2"), then either the bright that you have most left or join your bright scraps and make a 1/2--3/4" narrow border, then a wider white border!

What a beautiful quilt!!! All of these border ideas sound good! I can't add to them, just wanted to say how pretty your quilt is.

I would definitely do a narrow white border to frame the pinwheels, but then you have choices. If you want a color, I agree with NatalieF that turquoise is the way to go. Personally, I'd probably go with a neutral and then maybe pick up a color with my quilting thread. Black, grey, tan or white would all look really beautiful. I'm almost leaning toward black with a silver metallic thread for all the quilting. So sparkly!

I would put a narrow band of some color that is not in the outside blocks (I would go dark rather than light since it would make the blocks pop) to stop the pattern (white would continue the pattern for the white blades). Then I would do the piano keys around the outside.
