Default Shawano County WI Barn Quilts

Hi all, I am hoping all you pattern savvy quilters can help a girl out.

I live in Wisconsin and in Shawano County (pronounced Shaw-no), they did a great 4-H project which has taken off the last few years. They have sponsors and 'host' farms, which they then take two pieces of 4x8 sheets of plywood and paint a different quilt pattern on it. It is then displayed on the barns. It is quite enjoyable to drive around and see these really old barns (some as old as the late 1800's), well kept and displaying their new 'bling'. Shawano County alone has over 300 barns displaying various designs. This project has taken off to other northern counties as well. We love seeing all the colors and designs when we drive north to our cabin.

I decided to use up some of my increasing stash and make a quilt with 14 of my favorite ones I have seen so far. With over 300 in that county to choose from alone, it was hard! I have attached the patterns with numbers on them. I'm hoping some of you can lend assistance with the name of the pattern and maybe where I can a (hopefully) free pattern for it?

Any help you can provide is Very much appreciated. Thanks!!

3 and 6 look the same. Bethlehem Star. Many older patterns have numerous names.

Oh, what fun! I've seen a few on barns here in VA. #7 is unusual--looks like an iris to me.

Maniac is so right. I know 3 and 6 by the name carpenter wheel and by Carpenter's Star.

I urge the OP to go to Quilter's Cache. She may find a lot of those patterns there.

Wow...300 to choose from...I had heard of your project as DD lives in the area...the designs you have chosen are not simple 4 or 9 patches are they? Maybe you have a friend who has Electric Quilt and they can draw them and size the block to your specifications.

Thanks everyone. I'll check out the quilters Cache and see if I recognize any of them.

I just thought it would be a fun quilt to try with a girlfriend who is going on the road "tour" with me on our bikes this summer
