Treasure in your sewing room
Almost two years since my dad passed. He was a typewritter repairman. He also loved to make things with wood. I have many things in my house that he made. He made my thread holder. But my prize treasure from him is this little bowl. It sat on his work bench and held nails,screws and others. It now holds safety pens in my sewing room. Do you have a treasure that sews with you?

That's a cool dish. I thought about bringing my mom's sewing tin home with me - but decided to leave it for my sister since my mother gave me the sewing machine. My mom gave it to me since I did a lot of sewing growing up and I told her I wanted it. My sister was rather upset she wasn't asked but she was not the one sewing on it as a child.

I have my grandmother's button container. She cut off buttons before she threw away clothes, and she saved all the extra buttons from her sewing too. It is a dented metal can that she painted black with some flowers. Looks pretty rough but is one of my favorite items.

I have some wooden spools that came from my grandmother's sewing box. I also got the candy dish that sat on her table for as long as I can remember. I don't have the dish in my sewing room because I would just fill it and eat it.

A wood box that an optometrist used to send glasses to my husband's grandmother. She kept her crochet hooks in it. A wood cigar tube used to hold my own grandmother's crochet hooks. My grandmother's button box was sold at auction. I was devastated when told...lived too far away to attend...I spent hours and hours playing with those buttons.
