Default Jellyroll Run

Has anyone made a baby sized jellyroll run quilt? I would like to make one that is approximately 38 x 50. Since the length of the precut strips are 42" I will need to cut them into smaller lengths to get the 'run' effect, but I'm not sure how long. Thirds perhaps? I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has tried this. Thank you!

This website says you can either use the regular length or cut the strips in half to get more variation.

It's a bit more work but I've made several baby jelly roll quilts. I took all the dupes out of the jelly roll so I had only one of each fabric. I cut the strips in half at the fold, then folded them in half and cut them again so 4 pieces out of each strip. Then I put them in a paper bag, shook it, pulled random ones out and as long as they didn't match I sewed them together. Then go as normal. I did a zigzag stitch down the strip sides to quilt then folded the back over for binding. Cutting into 4 pieces gave me almost none of the puddling that you can get.
