I know I'm really going to like this place. Everyone here is so friendly and I've already seen some beautiful work. To Deb in MN - I believe in the Fabric Fairy, too... :D

Welcome from Maine. Spent my college years in SD and loved it! Love those Black Hills! What town in SD?

beachlady - Thanks for the warm welcome! You either went to the South Dakota School of Mines of Technology or National College of Business (now known as National American University) in Rapid City, or Black Hills State University (used to be College and then it became a University) in Spearfish.

I live in Spearfish and was actually employed at the university for two years. I, too, love the Black Hills. I started out living in Lead, then moved to Deadwood, and ended up in Spearfish because the winter of driving back and forth was enough to convince me to do so since I did not have a 4-wheel drive vehicle. The fall color in the Spearfish Canyon this year was absolutely fabulous.

Teacup - What a beautiful quilt! Thank you for the welcome. I hope someday to be able to make beautiful quilts as well.

Shemjo in Missouri - Thanks for the welcome! I'm intrigued by your quilt because green is one of my favorite colors.

No, I actually graduated from Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell. But my in-laws lived in Lead for years and when he retired from the ministery they built a retirement home in Sturgis. The are now in their 90's and live in Florida to be near their daughter. I am older than you, so you probably do not know them. I would have stayed in the mid-west, but my husband wanted to leave the state and so we moved to Florida for a couple of years and then on to Washington D.C.
