Default Pineapple Block

Paper piece or no paper? Anyone have experience doing both? I looked around at different postings- what beautiful quilts!

I have never done paper piecing but my sister has. I understand that this a a good one for that. Your points will be very crisp.

We are using Gyleen Fitzgerald's "Trash to Treasure" ruler and like the results. The drawback is it only makes one size.

PP is the only way I will do a Pineapple block. I tried a pineapple block ruler once and didn't think it was any easier or faster.

I've tried paper piecing this block but hated removing all the paper from the log strips. Creative Grids has several rulers for making pineapple blocks and I love using the rulers. I love pineapple blocks!

I foundation piece my pineapple blocks. I like the easy accuracy. ( foundation piecing same as paper piecing but I use muslin or other thin stabilizer fabric squares instead of paper- then I don't have to take the time tearing away tons of paper. )

I made mine without any specialty rulers or paper piecing. I did mine the Eleanor Burns way. I know I posted a picture of it at least the beginning of it, it was called the Rainbow Pineapple quilt. I never got to post the finished quilt because it was claimed as soon as I put the binding on!

I used the Creative Grids pineapple ruler. There is a lot of squaring up involved with each side, but with paper piecing you also have to trim after each piece. With the ruler you don't have any paper to remove afterwards. Whatever you feel more comfortable with. It's a fun quilt to make.
